Yonkers Mayor Spano Appoints Digital Technology Specialist to Board of Education

Arz Raheem Sworn-In as Newest Yonkers Board of Education Trustee
YONKERS, NY – April 11, 2025 – Mayor Mike Spano today swore in digital and informational technology specialist Arz Raheem to the Yonkers Board of Education. As trustee of the Yonkers Board of Education, Raheem is part of a nine-member Board, which is the official policy-making body of the School District.
“As we continue to provide our students with the best education possible, I am proud to appoint Arz to the Board of Education as he brings dynamic experience in the IT and financial sectors,” said Mayor Spano. “He is passionate about education in Yonkers, and his experiences will be valuable assets to our District and our students.”
Working in information technology for over 20 years, Raheem currently serves as director of Digital Technology Services at Hackensack Medical Health, where he oversees and supports Hackensack’s strategies to engage with audiences through its digital channels, including data and analytics. Previously, Raheem served as senior director of the Digital Transformation Office at Montefiore Health System. Raheem holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Financial Management and a Master of Arts in International Management Studies from the University of Essex. Raheem also is an active volunteer as a youth soccer coach and mentor for local high school juniors and seniors in public speaking.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to be asked to join the Yonkers Public Schools Board of Trustees and extend my gratitude to Mayor Spano, for his trust and support. As a longtime community leader and volunteer, I am passionate about empowering young minds to thrive,” commented Arz Raheem. “My family’s connection to the YPS system runs deep, with all five of my children as well as my wife, all having been a part of it. I want to thank my family and friends who have been a constant source of support and encouragement. With their inspiration and my leadership experience, I am excited to work alongside my fellow trustees and our Superintendent, Aníbal Soler, to ensure every child in Yonkers has access to an excellent education and boundless opportunities.”
Board of Education President Dr. Rosalba Corrado Del Vecchio noted, “We’re proud to welcome Arz Raheem to the Board of Education. His leadership in healthcare and technology, along with his proven ability to build effective teams and systems, will strengthen our governance and support the strategic direction of the District. His dedication to empowering youth and improving communities is evident, and we’re fortunate to have his voice at the table.”
Superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools Aníbal Soler, Jr., commented, “I look forward to working closely with Mr. Raheem as we build on the progress our District has made. Yonkers leads New York’s Big 5 school districts in graduation rates – success made possible through strong collaboration between the Board, administration, and our community. Mr. Raheem brings not only deep leadership experience, but also the perspective of a parent with three children currently in our schools. That connection is invaluable as we continue to move Yonkers Public Schools forward.”
Arz Raheem replaces Trustee Felix Rios, who recently resigned. Raheem’s term as trustee expires May 6, 2028.
Mayor Spano added, “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Felix Rios for his dedicated years of service to the Board of Education, who served our City and our students with loyalty, professionalism and distinction.”
