Philosophy

  • Curriculum: focused on literacy development through the science of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension) in order to develop strong reading skills and mastery by grade level.

Use culturally responsive and sustaining instruction that promotes equity and access for all students.

Focus on English and Spanish development through verbal and written communications, emphasizing mastery of literacy skills across the core subjects of English Language Arts, Spanish Native Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science.

  • Apply an Equity and Justice Lens to all learners and stakeholders (including students themselves) so that the children grow to embody the ideals, knowledge, and capacities for enacting equity and justice for the community.

Project-based learning will involve students designing, developing, and constructing hands on solutions to build student strengths and creative capacity to tackle real world problems.

Integration of the Arts: Students will be provided with opportunities to express themselves creatively through various art forms such as poetry, and digital art.
