Committees on Special Education

  • Committee on Special Education (CSE)

The Committee on Special Education (CSE) is a team including a representative of the school district and the student’s parent/guardian depending on the type of meeting. Additional members may include a psychologist, a general education teacher and a special education teacher, and others as requested by the parent/guardian or the school district. Evaluations are reviewed by the team to determine if a student has an educational disability and is eligible for Special Education services. Should a student be found eligible, an Individual Education Program (IEP) is developed and services are recommended in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)

The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) is a multi-disciplinary team that determines whether a 3 or 4 year-old child is a “pre-school student with a disability (PWD)” and is eligible for Special Education services.

Parent Members of the Committee on Preschool Special Education

Parents of students with disabilities are always needed to serve on the CPSE as parent members. They monitor the rights of children and serve as advocates for their interests. Please volunteer your services. Training is provided.
