It is with great excitement and gratitude I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal for the 9th and 10th grades here at the Barack Obama School for Social Justice. As a former resident and alumni of the district, I am truly honored to serve in this capacity. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a passionate and dedicated school community, and I look forward to supporting students, staff, and families. I have a passion for education and come to you with ten years of experience in the education field and over five years of experience in the social work field. The majority of my educational experience comes from my role as a Special Education Teacher and Instructional Coach in the NYC Department of Education in District 75. Most recently, I was a Staff Specialist at Dutchess BOCES, providing various in-district professional development to school districts throughout Dutchess County. Before becoming an educator, I received a Bachelor's in Social Work and supported youth in a residential treatment facility as a Transition Coordinator. I believe all students deserve a high-quality education in an inclusive, equitable, safe, and positive environment. I am eager to partner with staff and families in fostering such an environment here at Obama. As an Assistant Principal, I plan to lead with compassion, kindness, and love as I support the work of providing enriching learning experiences for all of our students thrive.
