IMMUNIZATION
All public and non-public Pre-K to Grade 12 schools must ensure that all students are up to date with all mandatory school vaccinations, regardless of whether they are attending school in-person, or via remote learning.
Public Health Law § 2164 requires each Pre-K through Grade 12 student to satisfy certain vaccination requirements as a condition of attending school.
Nonmedical exemptions to school vaccination requirements have ended for children in Prekindergarten through 12th grade in New York State. This includes all public, private, and religious schools. Religious exemptions are no longer allowed.
IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIRED
- Diphtheria, Tetanus toxoid with Pertussis vaccine (DTP. DTaP, Tdap, Td), 4 or more doses for PreK and above
- Tdap Vaccine is mandated for students 11 years or older in grades 6-12
- Polio vaccine (IPV, OPV), 3 or more doses for PreK and above
- 1st dose of Measles, Mumps, Rubella, (MMR) vaccine(s), given after 12 months of age
- 2nd dose of MMR, mandated for Kindergarten and above
- Haemophilus Influenza Type B vaccine (Hib), 1-4 doses prior to entering PreK
- Pneumococcal vaccine (PCV), 1-4 doses prior to entering PreK
- Hepatitis B, 3 doses, mandated for all students PreK and above
- 1st dose of Varicella Vaccine mandated for all students PreK and above
- 2nd dose of Varicella Vaccine mandated for Kindergarten and above
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) is mandated for students in grades 7-10 and 2nd dose required for 12th grade.
Proof of adequate immunization must include dates of inoculation on a stamped physician certificate. https://www.health.ny.gov/publications/2370.pdf
