Dear 7th and 8th grade students and families,
We hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these trying times and were able to have a restful and relaxing summer. As we approach the 2020-2021 school year and face the new challenges that come along with it, we wanted to take this opportunity to express our expectations for remote/hybrid learning. As you know we will be starting the year remote, with plans to be back in the building, following a hybrid model, in October. As you also know, this pandemic has been unpredictable and difficult to gauge. That being said, if the possibility arises that we are remote for longer, these expectations will still be upheld. We understand how difficult the last few months have been and we present these expectations with your child’s best interest in mind. The expectations for the middle school team are as follows:
- Participate in class discussions on Teams, either in the chat or verbally (remote) and in class (hybrid)
- Use the “raise hand” feature on Teams to prevent speaking over others
- Keep yourself muted while others are speaking or presenting, until you are called on
- Encourage children to use their cameras to replicate the classroom setting and to help ensure they are engaged in class
- Be respectful of peers and teachers – we are all enduring this difficult time together and it is crucial that we stick together and respect each other’s thoughts and ideas!
- Complete classwork/homework assignments
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to any of your child’s teachers. We are looking forward to a successful school year!
Sincerely,
The 7th and 8th Grade Team
